Terms of Participation
The short version: INSPIRE is free, it's voluntary, it's education and research, and it is not medical care.

What INSPIRE is
INSPIRE is a community brain-health education and research program run by the IMPACT Initiative at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, alongside partner congregations and community organizations. It covers nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and connection, and it collects research data on how those things track with brain health.
What INSPIRE is not
It is not treatment. It does not diagnose anything. It does not replace your doctor, your clinic, or your medications. Nothing on this site or in the program should be taken as medical advice for your particular situation, and nobody here will tell you to stop or change a prescription.
We never promise an individual outcome. Lifestyle change is associated with lower risk across large groups of people; what happens for any one person varies.
What taking part asks of you
Honest answers on the intake questions, and whatever level of participation you sign up for — weekly sessions in the guided track, monthly sessions in the self-paced track, plus short assessments at the start, at 6 months, and at 12 months.
Cost
There is no cost, at any point, for any part of the program. It's funded by research grants. Nobody will ask you for payment or for financial information.
Leaving
You can stop at any time, for any reason, without giving one, and without penalty. Tell us and you're out. Ask for your contact record to be deleted and we'll delete it.
The member area
If you use the habit-tracking area, keep your sign-in details to yourself. It records whether you marked a self-care action as done, and nothing clinical.
Emergencies
This site is not monitored for emergencies. If something is urgent, call 911 or your clinician.
